Microsoft Syntex Advanced Management’s first capabilities

Frane Borozan - January 27, 2023

Today I tried Microsoft Syntex Advanced Management’s first capabilities, to be released later this year. Syntex Advanced Management will allow us all to manage easier SharePoint and OneDrive, as well as enhance #M365 collaboration capabilities

Granular Conditional Access Policies (GCAP) – enable engineers to create sensitivity labels that can be associated with the granular conditional access policies in Microsoft 365 Compliance Center. These can then be linked with sites where sensitive content is present or will be available in the future.

Restricted access control (RAC) Policy for Sites – oversharing is a big issue today. Now with RAC, you can manage access of the SP site, by granting only access to users who are members of the #M365 group associated with the SharePoint Site. Users who are not in the group won’t have access or previous access to the site or the file.

Restricted access control (RAC) Policy for OneDrives – similar to the SharePoint it is available for the OneDrive as well so all OneDrives can be set to be shared only with your employees and not guests. Simply create AAD group that contains all your employees and then in SP admin center, Limit OneDrive Access only to that group. Awesome!

Data Access Governance (DAG) Insights – now is available only site history and recent admin actions. SP Engineers need to troubleshoot the inaccessible team site. It is a lot easier when you have easy access to all activities by owners. The new recent admin actions panel shows the latest changes you made to site properties such as site name, site URL, sharing settings, storage limit etc., It allows you to export 30 days’ worth of changes.

Looking forward to the other features that Microsoft announced at #Ignite and will be introduced later this year.
